Living Out Our Mission Through Service, Friendship, and Community

At Louisville Adventist Academy, our mission is to help students Know Jesus, Love Jesus, Share Jesus, and Serve Jesus. Partnering for Eternity (PFE) gives students a weekly opportunity to live out that mission through meaningful service, intergenerational friendship, and Christlike compassion — while also receiving tuition assistance.

Since 2006, PFE has connected students with older adult mentors, easing senior isolation, building lifelong friendships, and providing over $15 million in tuition assistance across North America.

 Why PFE Matters at LAA

PFE isn’t just a scholarship program — it’s discipleship in action.

• Serve Jesus through weekly acts of service and presence.

Students grow spiritually, emotionally, and socially — and earn tuition assistance along the way.

 How the Program Works (K–12 Overview)

• Students pair up with a mentor who is 55+, not a relative, and cognitively healthy. (It is highly recommended that each family finds your own mentor(s) to work with. If you cannot do so, we will try to assist if possible.)
• Mentors may be older adults or individuals with disabilities who would benefit from companionship or light assistance. They cannot be a family member.
• Visits occur in person, not during Sabbath hours, and not at school, church, workplaces, or entertainment venues.
• Students submit a reflection during each visit through the PFE website/app.
• The PFE coordinator reviews reflections weekly for approval.
• Scholarship is awarded only when all requirements are met.
• Note: At LAA for the 2026-27 school year, a maximum of 11 elementary (K-8) students can participate. All high school students are eligible.

 Grades K–8 Program

Weekly Service • One‑on‑One Mentorship • $30 per Visit

Program Basics

• 1 hour visit per week
• Parent/guardian must be present within eyesight/earshot
• One mentor per student
• Reflections submitted during each visit
• Scholarship: $30 per visit
• Annual earning potential: ~$1,320

Family Commitments

• Attend orientation
• Help create the student’s reflection account (unique email required)
• Ensure weekly visits happen
• Communicate immediately about tech issues
• Participate in PFE fundraising unless exempt

K–8 Visit Expectations

• One‑on‑one only
• No virtual visits
• No TV watching or non‑interactive activities
• No group settings
• No visits at school, church, workplaces, or during Sabbath hours

 Grades 9–12 Program

Deeper Service • Two‑Hour Visits • $800 per Term

Program Basics

• 2 hours per week
• 14 weeks per term (Fall & Spring)
• One mentor per student
• Parent decides whether to supervise visits
• Reflections must be submitted during each visit
• Scholarship: $800 per term
• Annual earning potential: $1,600

High School Requirements

• No make‑up visits allowed
• Only one visit per week counts
• Visits must be planned early to avoid missed weeks
• Reflections must be submitted at the time of the visit
• Students must complete all 14 visits + 14 reflections to receive scholarship
• Coordinator reviews each reflection for approval or rejection
• Rejected reflections must be corrected and resubmitted within 2 weeks

Parent Commitments

• Attend orientation
• Support mentor selection
• Decide transportation/supervision plan
• Ensure reflections are submitted during visits
• Communicate concerns or tech issues immediately
• Complete any required surveys or questionnaires

 What Mentors Commit To

Mentors agree to:

• Spend weekly time with their student (1 hour for K–8, 2 hours for 9–12)
• Provide a safe, welcoming environment
• Engage in meaningful activities
• Be present during chores or tasks
• Report concerns to the PFE coordinator
• Build a positive, supportive relationship

Mentors often describe the experience as life‑changing — for them and for the student.
